HCE E-News is the free Hood County Express email roundup. This notice explains the information used for signup and delivery.
What we collect
We collect the email address you submit, your subscription status, the signup placement, and records needed to send messages or honor an unsubscribe. A name, phone number and home address are not required.
How we use it
We use your address for a welcome message and the roundup you requested. The roundup is prepared around 7 p.m. Central when eligible new reporting is available. Late stories roll into the next roundup. The monthly e-edition may appear within a roundup.
Who processes the information
The website is hosted by Vercel. HCE's separate Supabase project stores the subscription and delivery records. Resend delivers email. Signing up for HCE does not subscribe you to Texans for Public Integrity, a political organization or another publication. We do not sell the HCE subscriber list.
The invitation and your browser
A local browser preference remembers when you have seen or dismissed the E-News invitation, or submitted the form. It does not store your email address. Clearing site data or using a different browser can reset that preference. We do not use an IP address as your popup identity.
Security and delivery
The signup service uses short-lived, hashed network identifiers for abuse limits rather than storing raw IP addresses in subscriber records. Hosting providers may retain technical request logs. We record delivery failures and complaints so we can stop sending to addresses that should not receive mail. Email-open and link-click tracking are disabled for the HCE sending domain.
Retention and leaving the list
Completed delivery payloads are cleared after seven days, and delivery-event records are retained for up to 90 days. We retain the minimum opt-out record needed to avoid subscribing you again by mistake. Use the unsubscribe link in any roundup, or contact HCE to request help or deletion.
