NEWS FROM AROUND TEXAS
TCU CHANCELLOR PULLIN STEPS DOWN
Daniel Pullin is out as Texas Christian University's chancellor, less than 17 months after taking the job, The Texas Tribune reported.
Victor Boschini Jr., who led TCU for 22 years before Pullin, was appointed chancellor, effective immediately. No reason was given for Pullin's resignation.
STATE CUTS CHILD CARE AID SLOTS
Statewide, the Texas Workforce Commission cut the number of children its child care subsidy program will serve by a little less than 10% in 2027, The Texas Tribune reported.
That cut is expected to add 14,000 names to the more than 100,000 young children already waiting for subsidies.
Low-income families use the program to pay for all or part of child care tuition. Inflation and more programs qualifying for higher payments drove up costs, according to the Legislative Budget Board.
BOTTOM LINE
Square streets stay closed until 8 a.m. Monday.
Saturday is a watering day for odd-numbered addresses.
