COUNTIES REPORT FIRST-DAY EARLY VOTING RECORDS
Several Texas counties reported record opening-day early voting, The Texas Tribune reported Tuesday.
Harris County set a first-day midterm record, while Dallas County saw its highest number of Day 1 early votes ever. Montgomery, Ellis, Bell and McLennan counties also reported midterm records.

HOMEOWNERS MAY BE MISSING HOMESTEAD SAVINGS
Hundreds of thousands of potentially eligible Texas homeowners are not claiming a homestead exemption, The Texas Tribune reported.

Homeowners do not receive the break automatically. They must fill out an application and prove they own the home and live there as their primary residence, among other requirements.
