NEWS FROM AROUND TEXAS
⚖️ ITALY WON'T EXTRADITE GILLEY ON CAPITAL CHARGE
An Italian court ruled Monday that Lee Gilley will not be extradited to the U.S. on a capital murder charge, his defense attorney told Houston Public Media.
The Houston man is charged in the 2024 death of his pregnant wife.
Attorney Dick DeGuerin said the 56-page ruling leaves open extradition if the charge is lowered to murder, which in Texas carries a maximum of life with the possibility of parole.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office said it was reviewing the opinion. As of Monday, Gilley was still charged with capital murder, the station reported.

Democrat Clayton Tucker, 35, is secretary of the Texas Farmer's Union. Neither candidate has held political office before.
The agency administers public school lunch programs, regulates commercial scales and issues licenses to grow hemp.

📧 HINOJOSA SUES ABBOTT'S OFFICE OVER MUSK EMAILS

In November 2025, Abbott's office released nearly 1,400 pages to The Texas Newsroom, but all except about 200 pages were entirely blacked out, KUT reported.
