MIDDAY LEAD
GISD TRUSTEES HEAR BUS OUTSOURCING PITCH
Granbury ISD trustees heard a presentation from First Student Transportation at their Oct. 19 meeting about what a possible agreement to run district bus service could include, Hood County News reported.
The board took no action. Staff, parents and community members will be asked for input before any decision is made, the newspaper reported.
Superintendent Morawski called the session educational and "not an official interview for contracting." Chief Financial Officer Griffin said the district is "exploring options," including a possible route study.
First Student's Rhiannon Castillo told trustees, "We're not lowering pay or laying off drivers." Board President Gore raised concerns about drivers keeping TRS retirement benefits.

OLD OIL WELLS SIT UNDER NEW SUBDIVISIONS
Texas has no statewide law regulating construction around plugged oil and gas wells, and developers do not have to tell buyers about them, The Texas Tribune reported with Inside Climate News and the San Antonio Express-News.
In San Antonio, the state has replugged one well five times, yet gas still leaks. The Railroad Commission says it will try a different strategy and materials.
