COLLEGE GOLF SPOTLIGHT ON GRANBURY

Round 2 of the inaugural Abilene Christian Intercollegiate is being played today at Halbert National Golf Club in Granbury.

Golf Channel airs every round live from 3 to 6 p.m., Abilene Christian University athletics says.

The Oct. 19–21 event has nine men's and nine women's teams playing 54 holes of stroke play, according to the tournament media guide. Eight of the 18 teams played in last season's NCAA Tournament, ACU says.

After Round 1, Texas A&M led the men at 5 under par and Oregon led the women at 12 under, the official scoreboard shows.

Golf Channel calls Halbert National a $50 million Tom Fazio design built for David D. Halbert, founder of Caris Life Sciences, with no members or tee times. The media guide lists the tournament as a private event.

UPDATE: BUDGET, HVAC ITEMS ALSO ON COUNCIL AGENDA

Granbury City Council will consider Ordinance No. 26-72 tonight, amending the 2025-2026 budget for the General, Utility, Airport, Tourism, Fleet and capital funds, the posted agenda shows.

Also listed is Resolution No. 26-15, a lease-purchase with Government Capital Corp. to finance lighting, HVAC and other property.

Council will also consider up to $250,000 in FY 2027 for meter support from Aqua-Metric Sales Co. and appointments to the Cultural Arts Commission and Legislative Task Force.

The city manager will give an economic development update, and council will meet in closed session with its attorney on pending or contemplated litigation.

Both water debt votes reported this morning remain on the agenda. Council meets at 6 p.m., and the meeting streams at granbury.org/live.

MANY HOMEOWNERS MISS HOMESTEAD SAVINGS

Hundreds of thousands of Texas homeowners who may qualify for the homestead exemption aren't claiming it as tax bills arrive this month, The Texas Tribune reported.

The exemption shaves at least $140,000 off the value school districts tax, but it isn't automatic. Homeowners must apply and prove the home is their primary residence.

Some 6.28 million Texas homeowners had an exemption in 2025, the comptroller's office reports.

BEXAR COUNTY DAY 1 VOTING UP 32%

Bexar County had 42,333 voters on the first day of early voting, about 32% more than the 32,005 on Day 1 of the 2022 midterms, Texas Public Radio reported, citing the county elections department.

A ballot issue that affected fewer than 1% of eligible voters was blamed on the state's TEAM election system and has been resolved, county officials said.

BOTTOM LINE

College golf at Halbert National airs on Golf Channel, 3 to 6 p.m.

Council meets at 6 p.m. tonight at City Hall.

Sunny this afternoon, with a high near 80°.
