Verification note: Mark Lowery's account of paying to recover the signs and delivering a notice of claim is attributed to him; an official city response had not been published at the original reporting time.
Granbury code enforcement workers removed five political signs Oct. 19, the first day of early voting, from a property at West Pearl Street and Deputy Larry Miller Drive, across from Hood County Annex 1. Mark Lowery, the Republican nominee for Hood County judge, says he paid $50 to recover the signs and has sent the city a notice of claim through counsel. Hood County GOP Chairman Greg Harrell also issued a statement. The city has not publicly responded.

Why did he have to pay if political signs are exempt during an election? Was it the same person responsible who stole political signs before during the school board/ bond election ?
