TRUMP TARGETS TEXAS SENATE RACE

President Donald Trump's Tuesday Texas schedule featured rallies in Corpus Christi and Lubbock supporting Republican Ken Paxton in his U.S. Senate race against Democrat James Talarico, NBC News reported.

NBC described the race as one of the most closely watched Senate contests this cycle, with Election Day one week away on Nov. 3.

Talarico also planned Tuesday events in Midland, Amarillo and Lubbock, NBC 5 DFW reported.

GRAND JURY DECLINES HUTCHINSON INDICTMENT

A federal grand jury in Washington declined Tuesday to indict former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson over her 2022 testimony to the congressional Jan. 6 committee, a senior U.S. official told NBC News.

The grand jury returned a "no bill," rejecting the Justice Department's effort to obtain an indictment. Hutchinson was not charged in that decision.

The refusal does not prevent the department from trying to bring charges again, NBC reported.

ISRAELI EXIT POLLS SHOW NO CLEAR WINNER

Exit polls from Tuesday's Israeli election projected that neither Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's bloc nor challenger Gadi Eisenkot's bloc would reach the 61 seats needed for a majority, The Guardian reported.

Initial exit polls projected Netanyahu's bloc at 50 seats and Eisenkot's bloc at 52 or 53.

Those are exit-poll projections, not official election results; counting was under way.

The Guardian said the outcome could lead to weeks of negotiations over forming a coalition government. Exit polls do not establish who will become prime minister.

COURT DECLINES TO RESTORE IMMIGRATION RULE

The Supreme Court declined Tuesday to restore a Biden-era rule letting immigration judges pause some deportation cases, SCOTUSblog reported.

It was an unsigned order with no noted dissents, and it left in place an agreement between Texas and the Justice Department that eliminated the rule, according to the report.

Texas brought the case in federal court in Wichita Falls; the regulation, concerning administrative closure of cases, was adopted by the Justice Department's Executive Office for Immigration Review in 2024.

LOCALIZED AID TRUCE REPORTED IN OLESHKY

A localized ceasefire that first lady Melania Trump helped broker began in Oleshky, a city in southern Ukraine, to permit aid deliveries, The Associated Press reported in a roundup carried by WKTV.

Supplies in the city have run dangerously low. The truce was expected to last through Saturday, but its success remained uncertain, according to the report.

This is a localized humanitarian pause, not a nationwide ceasefire. Russia continued missile attacks on other cities, the report said.
